Meet Bennie Caldwell, Director of Quality
Bennie Caldwell
Director of Quality
Bennie Caldwell is the director of quality at Bullen Ultrasonics, a global leader in the precision machining of advanced ceramics, glass and specialty materials using proprietary ultrasonic and laser-based technologies. He oversees the full spectrum of quality operations, including quality engineering, CMM programming, calibration and final inspection. With more than 30 years of experience across aerospace, semiconductor and medical device manufacturing, he is known for building strong, collaborative cultures where quality is everyone’s responsibility.
Since joining Bullen, Bennie has helped elevate quality into one of the company’s defining strengths. His team focuses on preventing issues at the source, accelerating root-cause problem solving and implementing permanent corrective actions. These efforts have led to significant scrap reductions, stronger process consistency and deeper engagement across the shop floor. His weekly, hand-written performance whiteboard, updated publicly in the center of the plant, is a company cultural anchor that promotes transparency, sparks conversations and keeps quality top-of-mind for every department.
Bennie began his career at LORD Corporation (now Parker Lord), where early exposure to team-based manufacturing and supportive mentors shaped his leadership philosophy. He later held engineering and management roles at Silfex (a Lam Research division) and several medical device manufacturers, gaining deep experience in regulated environments, audit readiness and high-precision production. Across three industries, he has seen customer expectations shift toward greater risk mitigation, operational reliability and data-driven quality, all trends he continues to champion at Bullen.
A relationship-first leader, Bennie emphasizes clear expectations, candid conversations and developing quality engineers who are true partners to operations. He holds multiple certifications through the American Society for Quality (ASQ), including Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE). He earned a B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Dayton.
